There’s a quiet pressure to stay the same.
To be consistent. Reliable. Predictable.
To pick a version of yourself and stick with it.
Even when it no longer fits.
Even when it starts to ache.
Even when you’ve outgrown it in ways you can’t unfeel.
But we are not meant to stay the same.
We are meant to evolve.
And that evolution is not betrayal—it’s a form of self-respect.
I’ve let go of identities that once felt like home.
Roles I worked hard to build.
Ways of being that earned me love, attention, validation.
And yes, it was scary.
Letting go always is.
But I’ve learned this:
If I hold onto who I used to be, I’ll never become who I actually am.
So I give myself permission.
To change.
To soften.
To sharpen.
To begin again—without shame.
I do not owe the world consistency at the cost of my truth.
Let them say I’ve changed.
Let them not recognize me.
Let them misunderstand.
I am not here to stay the same.
I am here to become.
